Maps for Interconnection

The topic of our interconnection this week is about map skill. In Chinese class, we make a treasure hunting map. We learn 地圖map, 指南針compass, 東East,西 West,南South, and 北North.

Try to let making a map more interesting. We try to make a old and shabby treasure hunting map, so I ask kids to tear off the border of the paper. Besides, putting the map over the fire make it looks older. I am lucky to have a box of tea light when we are cleaning out 1st grade closet last week. Every kids can have one and bring it home. We are not allowed to do this in school, so I ask kids to do it at home.

I did it before I ask, and I know it's not easy. Some kids burned their maps into ashes. I still give them one sticker as a prize. I am so glad to see their exciting smiles when they show off their map to me this morning. And one more exciting thing for me is several kids who seldom returned the homework DID this assignment. They are really great kids. I am so proud of them.
